Modified Access Grid Node
JSUvisNode

The Access Grid (AG) is a suite of hardware, software, and tools to allow group collaborative experiences such as meetings, seminars, lectures, and tutorials via multicast networking. As an Internet2 member, Jackson State University is connected to the Abilene Backbone Network. The AG hardware components include a computing equipment, a media equipment, and a projection equipment. Four computers drive a standard Access Grid Node (AGN). For an installation to comply with the original definition of an AGN, it must have at least three projectors, four cameras, and enough microphones to ensure that all users can be heard remotely without any special effort on their part.

JSU Visualization Laboratory's node (JSUvisNode) is a modified AGN driven by only three computers. JSUvisNode has two cameras, three microphones, and one projector. As of February 2005, the Visualization Laboratory has been relocated to the Mississippi e-Center. JSUvisNode will be transformed into a mobile node.
